Price list for contract work
The cost of a portrait drawing varies depending on the technique, medium, size of the work, and the number of animals and people depicted. The design of the background (scenic, neutral, blurred, bokeh technique) also influences the pricing. Ultimately, you have the choice of whether you want your portrait matted, framed, behind glass, or mounted on foam board.
I’m happy to assist you in all these matters. Based on your submitted photo files and your wishes regarding the background design, I’ll recommend the appropriate artistic technique for the execution. I’ll advise you on the choice of format, and upon request, I can also organize elaborate framing in collaboration with selected galleries and gilders.

Miniatures are the most cost-effective option for commissioning a work from me. Even on a small surface, drawings with expression and depth can be created. However, due to the limited size of the painting surface, not all motifs can be depicted. Full-body portraits of large animals such as horses are possible, but only as scenic images without details. Detail images from a head study are impressive. Several miniatures hung side by side, each showing a detail of an animal’s face, can also be very effective.
If you are interested in a miniature, please send me a photo of the animal you would like to have depicted. I would be happy to advise you on selecting a suitable detail or a scenic representation using various painting techniques.
The above prices are guide prices for commercially available drawing surfaces from established quality manufacturers such as Arches, Sennelier, Clairfontaine, Canson, or St. Cuthberts Mill. I also offer large-format works up to 2×2 meters, as a solitary king-size motif or as a composition
of multiple poses of an animal with a large head study as an eye-catcher.
My pricing is based on the time spent and the cost of the high-quality artist materials I use for each work.

Processing
Upon placing the order, a deposit of 50% of the purchase price is due immediately. I will place your order on the order list immediately upon receipt of payment. You will receive a notification from me two weeks before the start of order processing. The remaining purchase price is now due for reimbursement. Please understand that I will be working on this individual piece for many days, or weeks depending on the order. This requires a high degree of reliability, especially since I cannot resell completed works.
How long does it take to complete a portrait?
The waiting time depends on my current workload. My order list typically requires a four-to-six-month wait. Short-notice commissions for special occasions can sometimes be accommodated, but generally, to avoid disappointment, please contact me as soon as possible for deadline-based work. Christmas orders should also be placed as soon as possible, as I have a particularly high volume of work to complete at the end of the year. Purchasing a gift certificate for birthdays or other special occasions can help with short-notice commissions.
Completion
The finished works can be shipped worldwide. I will inform you of the respective shipping costs once the finished work has been packaged and the shipping company has determined the costs based on weight. For customers in Germany who require special framing, I work with two galleries in Heidelberg. A surcharge will be added for the selection and processing of the frame, depending on the complexity. I am also happy to select a suitable mat for the finished work. Additional costs may apply depending on the complexity and format. Works in pastels or charcoal require framing behind glass for protection. I also offer this for an additional fee. Alternatively,
you can receive your drawing securely by mail and arrange for the framing yourself.
Image Rights
You are purchasing a unique piece, crafted with extraordinary attention to detail. Photorealistic work requires a great deal of time and precision, which means I can only accept a limited number of pieces. I generally charge based on image size rather than hours of work, so that the costs remain reasonable for my clients. For this reason, I reserve the right to create photo files of the finished works for use on exclusive products. also reserve the right to publicly display my work on my website and social media.
